Lost Weekend
Lost Weekend, Darren Wardle's third solo show at SSFA, depicts ruins of a 20th Century mutant landscape. In this post-modernist nowhere, Wardle morphs Modernist architecture to create hyper-real landscapes. Abandoned and inert these ruins, rendered in intense neon colours, are decaying, disintegrating and melting. The flat glow of the canvases, evoke what Wardle describes as "electronic realism".
