Contemplating this survey exhibition comprising three decades, I'm inevitably reminded of Picasso's assertion that painting is merely another way of keeping a diary. Certainly, as an artist, these images collectively have a marked mnemonic power for me, evoking both voluntary and involuntary memories in a Proustian recovery of the past.
