Beck Wheeler
19 KAREN Contemporary Artspace
Beck Wheeler is a multi-disciplinary artist who works across the fields of painting, sculpture and digital media. Her character-based work brings together aspects from her German childhood, her New Zealand upbringing and her recent life in Australia. Wheeler makes eccentric creations of child-like innocence. The naive characters in her sculptures, paintings and soft toys live in a world of colour, texture and abstraction. Wheeler's current exhibition 'Tarts and Flours' is exhibiting at 19Karen until October 8.

Deborah Marks
Charles Hewitt Gallery
Dark, broody and compelling, Deborah Marks' paintings seek to investigate conflicted states. Marks is interested in conflict in several guises: between the self, with its inherent vulnerability, and the persona which presents an empowered position; second, the position between action and reflection and third, the internal drives of sensuality that are restrained within codes of morality.
Catch Deborah Marks solo exhibition 'Unspoken Moments' at Charles Hewitt Gallery September 22 - October 10.
