Her sculptures are readily identifiable by their conglomeration of bones, feathers, hessian, lint and other miscellaneous detritus. Her latest works manifest her combined and diverse interests in Christian saints, Greek and Roman mythology, paganism, feminism and Antarctic exploration. Inspired by a recent trip to Antarctica, Ivimey’s latest works include figurative sculptures named after explorers Mawson, Edgeworth and Douglas. Alongside works titled ‘Bellerophon and Pegasus’, ‘St Elizabeth of Hungary’ and ‘Jacob Wrestling the Angel’, the diversity of her source material is clear.
