RENEGADES: Outsider Art feature exhibition RENEGADES: Outsider Art Group Show 24 May - 27 Jul 13 KickArts Contemporary Arts KickArts Contemporary Arts presents work by over 50 artists in ‘Renegades: Outsider Art’, a bold foray into the ongoing debate around the definition of outsider art, or art brut, and its role in the contemporary art world. KickArts Director Ingrid Hoffman describes these ‘unlikely’ makers of art as creative people “without academic instruction, connections to commercial or public art galleries, marketing, critics or art schools”, who in many cases have faced some kind of adversity, illness or disability. The gallery will host a forum on outsider art this Saturday 25 May, featuring curator Camille Masson-Talansier alongside exhibiting artists and a range of arts professionals.
