The Shakers designed the peg. Not the clothes peg, but the peg that fills up a space to hold things together. They designed a lot of other things, but it's the peg that they're known for. The Shakers believe that idle hands are the devils playground. Keeping their hands busy seems to bind them with a golden thread to Gods side.
